Presentation

Florian Nicolai currently holds a postdoc position at the Chair for Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law and Philosophy of the Law at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. He finished his doctorate in law in 2023 as part of the Research Training Group „Cybercrime and Forensic Computing“, funded by the German Research Fund. In his thesis, which is currently in press (Duncker&Humblot, Berlin), Nicolai examines the effects of the Internet of Things and a interconnected world on Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law. In summer 2022 Nicolai was a guest researcher at the Swedish Law and Informatics Research Center at the University of Stockholm. His research covers general Criminal (Procedural) Law with a focus on cybercrime. He is the author of several academic journal articles and papers in anthologies and is regularly involved in teaching at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. Nicolai is a co-founder of the didactical Criminal Law podcast „Räuberischer Espresso“.
