Many individuals and organizations have been advocating for years the need for an Internet Bill of Rights (or Internet Magna Carta), a step towards a constitutionalization of supranational Internet principles and rights. Brazil and Italy have already moved in such a direction by approving the Marco Civil da Internet (Brazil, April 2014) and the Declaration of Internet Rights (Italy, July 2015) respectively. What is the role of such initiatives in ensuring that the Internet remains a global space based on human rights and democracy for future generations?
The hangout/seminar Internet Bill of Rights (Italian Declaration, Marco Civil and other related efforts) will be broadcasted online on Tuesday, April 19, at 8:45-10:00 am Eastern Time.
